Located at Nariman Point, Mumbai, this office was designed with the aim of creating a space that reflects the nature of work of the client. FB Celebrations Pvt. Ltd., an event management company, curates magical experiences and high-end events, decorating and dazzling each one with a personalized touch. So, we included colourful florals balanced harmoniously with sophisticated minimalism, mirroring perfectly the essence of the company. A fusion of art deco and contemporary minimalism, the office welcomes one with a hallway boasting a myriad of textures and patterns on the walls and floor. The grey limewash paint in combination with sage green patterned wall and retro black and white flooring is a cohesive and inviting blend. These muted, monochromatic tones are skilfully interspersed by the contrast of red and green. The logo lies against the backdrop of the waiting area, forming the focal point.
The ornamentation added through the elements of colour, wallpaper, and polished details provides the jubilating aura that comes with the planning of a wedding. The walls framed with pictures of their work and adorned with corniche- panels of floral wallpaper that resemble wedding cards also resonate with this ideology. However, hidden behind every project lurk its complications. Having to manoeuvre around the compact, labyrinthine structure, scattered with columns and existing obstructing pipes, the short-stipulated time, and the difficult working hours confined to nighttime, presented this project as quite complicated. Piled on top of these technical difficulties, were the high expectations and clear requirements of the client. Therefore, we had to adopt a simultaneous rather than linear system of planning. Rather than providing the complete design before its execution, we began the demolition process as well as the initial steps, parallelly perfecting the design, to adhere to the tight timeline. We embraced the complications by incorporating them into our design, as seen in the mirror column that doubles as a storage space, and the strategically organized toilets, pantry, and storage areas. The sharp edges and fluted glass walls amplify the essence of the space and complement the use of bright colours. Glass partitions divide the directors’ cabin and conference room. These sliding-folding partitions make the entire space flexible for users enabling enough privacy for directors when needed and allowing a free-flowing large space for meetings or any audio-visual presentations. An additional feature of these partitions is that they allow light to flood in from the main window, penetrating through the glass walls and illuminating the entire space. Breaking conventionality, the office has an open work area, as opposed to a modular, cramped workstations, promoting a sense of teamwork and togetherness, which is engrained in the roots of the company. The accounts cabin and RSVP room, where important calls are to be made, have an articulately calculated placement. There is an effective use of rattan screens to eloquently tackle the space crunch and cover the visual obstacles.
Overall, the melodious merge of minimalism and extravagance aptly represents the partners and founders of FB Celebrations, Fareed Khan and Bhavnesh Sawhney. Where Fareed appreciates muted palettes and forthrightness, Bhavnesh embraces the drama of décor, making this design the perfect one for them.
Our design celebrates the office space, greeting our clients with a festive environment that corresponds with the company’s theme, inviting them to a world of magic, joy, and entertainment.
