Student's Work

Based on decades of research, geometry is found to be the most important principle in Islamic Architecture. This course highlighted the fundamental principles and practices in Islamic Art and Architecture, the principles being Geometry, Islimi, (vegetal forms) and calligraphy. Students explored the fundamental principles like proportion, order in nature, patterns, motifs etc. This course introduced the widely used tools, materials and techniques practiced in Islamic Arts. One of the aims was to encourage students to appreciate the values that are fundamental to the arts of the great tradition of the world.
